Shadowbox began working independently with a group of adults with intellectual disabilities at the beginning of 2001. The group was formed as recognition of the need to provide arts based work outside of formal training centres and organisations to be able to explore the work on an independent basis and so focus completely on drama and creativity work.
The focus was on ability and creativity - this was simply our adult theatre group.

In July 2001 we performed a work in progress called ‘Boxed in’.
